In a Game ESPN Probably Hopes You'll Forget, Sloppy Bills Beat Sloppier Jets

The Bills got the victory, but everybody involved should be coming away from this one feeling like they've got a lot of work to do. Both the Jets and Bills were sloppy and dysfunctional, committing over 200 combined penalty yards. Towards the end, it seemed as if there was a penalty (or penalties) on every single play, with Troy Aikman at one point during the broadcast saying "this feels like a pre-season game." Painful to watch.

As has become customary in today's NFL, this game featured a lot of questionable officiating, to say the least. A weak roughing the passer penalty on a 3rd down Aaron Rodgers sack extended the drive and led to a Jets field goal. A Josh Allen deep ball down the sideline landed entirely out of bounds, and the Jets were flagged for pass interference on what should have been ruled an uncatchable ball. Rough night for NFL officiating, their arms will probably be sore tomorrow after throwing so many penalty flags.

Aaron Rodgers finished with 294 passing yards, 6 yards shy of the elusive 300-yard passing game that he hasn't had since 2021.

The post-Saleh era didn't look a whole lot different than the Saleh era. The Jets lose again, falling to 2-4 on the season and the Bills now are 4-2 and alone atop the AFC East with the 1-4 Titans up next.
