Give the Blues At Least 15 Games Before We Decide How Shitty They Are, Then We Can Bring Out the Torches and Pitchforks

In case you've been living under a rock, the Blues were embarrassed and booed at home in an ugly 5-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild in their home opener. They are now 0-1-0 to start the young season with a lot of work to do, with a very winnable game against a familiar opponent they've played well against in Calgary coming up on Saturday afternoon.

The loss against Minnesota was so disappointing I turned it off midway through the 2nd period and went to bed, it was pretty obvious where it was heading -- it wasn't worth my time to keep watching that shit show. I'm sure a lot of you did as well.

However, the reality is this is game 1 out of 82. The Blues have mostly gotten off to shitty starts to the season every year for the last several years and have gotten better as the season went on. Give the Blues, and especially their exceptional coaching staff led by Jim Montgomery, a bit of leeway to get this thing back on track. They deserve it, they've earned it.

Here's how the Blues have fared in their first 20 games in each of the last 3 seasons, and how they've finished the rest of the season; not counting the current season which is only 1 game old:
2024-2025: 8-11-1 in first 20, went 36-11-15 the rest of the way.
2023-2024: 11-8-1 in first 20, went 32-14-16 the rest of the way.
2022-2023: 10-10-0 in first 20, went 27-20-15 the rest of the way.

Now, time for the other ugly reality: the leadership of this organization has made it clear this is no longer a re-build/re-whatever (to use Doug Armstrong's own words) -- this team is expected to win, and win now. What we saw against Minnesota isn't acceptable, and the fans sure as hell aren't going to accept it.

I know I won't accept it.
They need a spirited effort against Calgary on Saturday to right the ship and get the fans back after that pathetic showing in the opener. For the love of god, show us something.
