St. Louis Blues defenseman Tyler Tucker has opened up to the Athletic about the knee injury he suffered during Game 4 of the Blues' first round playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets last year, and it is gruesome.

Tucker told the Athletic that he suffered a torn MCL, dislocated kneecap, and tore the VMO (vastus medialis obliquus, quadriceps muscle that connects to the kneecap. yeah, I'd never heard of it either) in his right knee.

“The MCL was torn off the bottom and off the top. Usually they tear off the top. I thought it was going to be worse than it was, and so did the doctors. But once I got all of my MRI's and whatnot, I was thankful for what it ended up being."

Yeesh.

Tucker told the Athletic of his recovery this summer: “I did a lot of rehab at the start of the summer and then probably mid-July, I started ramping things up and doing full participation in the gym with the other guys ... but yeah, I’m back to normal now.”

Fortunately, much like Dylan Holloway with his oblique injury, Tucker is back healthy again and ready to roll for the upcoming season. He is projected to compete for a spot on the Blues bottom defensive pairing alongside newcomer Logan Mailloux, among others.
