In their game against Utah several days ago, cameras caught an irate Jim Montgomery laying into Brad Marchand on the Bruins bench as his face turned increasingly red. The reason? Monty was upset about a bad Marchand turnover at the blue line that led to a Utah goal against.

Marchand was asked about that situation by reporters, and he gave the exact answer you'd want your captain and leader to give. The reporter said "people are making a big deal out of that," to which Marchand responded: "... people are very sensitive these days. It's unfortunate how coaches are scrutinized over things like that."

Con't: "... there's a lack of accountability nowadays because people can't handle the heat. You make a mistake like that, you deserve to hear about it. I'm glad that he said something about it; if he didn't, we'd have much bigger issues."

Well done, Brad Marchand.

Monty is a great coach, and the coaches job is to hold players accountable and get them to perform up to the expected standard. Too often anymore we see coaches only being held accountable when things aren't going well, but not the players. The reality is, players play and coaches coach.

Had Monty gone over to Marchand and patted him on the head and told him it's OK, he would be criticized for being a coddler and not commanding the respect of his players. Fortunately for the Bruins, they have a leader who wants a culture of accountability.
